Cristy has a unique and very spiritual approach to storytelling. Honest, funny, surprising, sad, nostalgic and REAL! –Mary Sue Stalling, Melbourne FL

Although it is written as a novel, anyone who was raised in a mainline Protestant denomination in the 60’s and 70’s will recognize the struggles of Rose Harris as she attempts to adapt the faith of her youth to the issues of the modern world.  Family problems, generational issues, the struggles of a parsonage family, and questions of faith, are all examined as she attempts to live her faith with a degree of compassion, joy, dignity and humor.   It may be a novel, but the journal of Rose Harris reads like a diary being written every week on the hearts of millions of church families across America.  This theologically sound novel is packed with practical insight about the faith journey and what it means to live a life of faith on the uncharted landscape of the twenty-First century.  Cristy Fossum’s first novel makes a great study book on practical Christianity and the meaning of Christian discipleship. —Jay Walkington, Ringwood IL

I'm reeeely enjoying reading this book. Trying not to read too many Sundays at a time so it will last longer. What a great idea for a book Cristy Fossum had -- and how well she weaves the journal into it! I find "Rose and her faith adventures" (as she noted in my autographed copy) portrayed in a way that puts me there -- with her -- as she tells her story. I look forward to hearing when she writes years A and B. —Millie Carter, Albemarle NC

Circumstantially you covered the widest range of topics all current day to this point.  Your treatment of the human dilemma is from grace and kindness.  Of course I can identify with all of this because we live it daily.  I'd like to know how this book is received by the unchurched or non believers.  I think ultimately, this book bears witness to anyone who reads it as a representation of life of those who love God and who are loved by God.  This shows throughout in their love for one another. —Gene Palmer, Columbia SC

I am going to read the book again and read the assigned Bible passages. I didn't take the time to read those the first time, because I wanted to get into the story. I absolutely loved Rose and could see a little bit of a lot of people I have known in each of the characters. I cannot wait for the next books to be published!”  —Sheila MacDougall, McHenry IL

While we were on vacation we read Sunday by Sunday which is written by a friend of ours from the seminary campus, Cristy Fossum. Sunday by Sunday is written as the journal of a woman, who is determined to grow old not-so-gracefully, but by living each day fully! Her journal entries reflect on her experiences with her family and friends, her life of faith, her experiences in worship, and the weekly lectionary texts from the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL). This is a work of fiction, but so true to life that it will make you laugh and cry – sometimes both at the same time. We are already waiting impatiently for the next volume to be published – hurry, Cristy!  –Ruth Ann and Ray Sipe, Lexington NC

I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying reading your book. I read one or two Sundays every night before I go to bed.  It is obvious that you have a true gift for writing and care deeply for the characters in the book.  I can relate to many of the people and see myself and those I love in several of them.  Thank you for your words and wisdom. –Sandra Holland, Columbia SC

My goodness, do you have a gift for storytelling and writing! For example, this Pentecost Sunday I will be the reader of the lessons during worship at St. Paul Church in Columbus... This morning I read from your SUNDAY BY SUNDAY (Year C),  the devotion for Pentecost and the words jumped off the page to my mind and heart:  "If I believe anything about God, if I believe anything Christ taught, it is the message of grace!  And yet if believing is feeling, God help my unbelief." Thank you for those words. —Ron Warren, Grove City OH
